Description
The silver fern has been a symbol of New Zealand's national identity since the 1880s. To Māori, the elegant shape of the fronds stood for strength, stubborn resistance, and enduring power. To Pākehā (New Zealanders of non-Māori descent), the fern symbolises their sense of attachment to their homeland.Indoors only
Dimensions: H465mm W255mm D50mm
This silver fern is carved into Macrocarpa, inlaid with coloured glass and coated with a waterproof solvent free, VOC free, eco oil that is produced in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Made from macrocarpa offcuts from a sawmill, that would otherwise have been destined for firewood, and recycled into art.
Our artwork and signs are hand finished so each piece is one of a kind.
